Correction

It wasn't W. It was his brother Neil on behalf of Rev. Moon and the gang. Of course, considering Neil's reputation (S & L scandal in '80's and being forced to resign from Dole Fresh for attempting to bribe a Brazilian Ag official the easiest to reference), this would make me doubly suspicious.

feeds blog

I am very comfortable with Bloglines search.

Feedster is DEAD!
Topix, Syndic8, and Technorati are bland but I could see how they could be useful. The regular news feeds on google and yahoo are just as good for regular news. For my news I'm not interested in most opinion column as much as I am in facts. Though blogs are good when a reporters overlook the obvious and go with the safe.

Example: Why has our President bought almost 900,000 acres of land in Paraguay? A better question: Why haven't any major American news media asked this question? Or debunked it?

Personal note

After doing these exercises I've come to the conclusion that most blogging is for people with waaaaaay to much spare time.

For professionals trying to dispense information, like Kiplinger Reports, it's a great marketing tool for their for- pay products.

There is however, an enormous amount of (insert slang for moist, semi-solid body waste).

Blogline

As part of my project I opened a blogline account.

I've already learned a great deal about some topics I find interesting. It's nice to know that so may people are as odd as I am!

#7 Blog about technology

I checked out Librarything as per the list of things to do. It will be absolutely invaluable both personally and professionally.

I can track what I read and read reviews on books I'm considering, or even find somebody with similar tastes and see what they like. I plan on recommending it to our regular customers!

My Journey to the 21st Century

I'm learning how to use the internet in a new way using the 71/2 Habits of Lifelong Learners.

1) Begin with the end in mind
2) Become an active participant
3) View problems as a learning opportunity
4) Have confidence in myself as a learner
5) Create my own learning toolbox
6) Use technology to your advantage
7) Teach others when the opportunity arises
7 1/2) PLAY! Learning should be fun!

For my blog, number 2 will probably be hardest. It's been busy lately!
